Postby Chris Layton » Thu Jan 26, 2012 7:22 pm

Great suggestion from another member so I thought I would get things going with a format for additions to the list:

Yard Name:
Location:
Phone Number:
Hours:
Cars they have (and condition if possible):

Just reply and if it looks good I will add the yard to the main post.
------------------------------------
Yard Name:Mt. Tobe Auto Parts
Location:Mt. Tobe rd., Plymouth, CT
Phone Number: disconnected
Hours:?
Cars they have : two old Fiat 600s
------------------------------------
Yard Name:R&R Scrap metal
Location:East Springfield, MA
Phone Number: 413 733-2118
Hours:9AM to 4PM I think
Cars they have : X1/9 with the body cracked in half behind the seat. Engine and tranny still there along with some bits, no wheels. (That's what I was looking for.) The car is in the far left corner of the yard on top of another car, it's green. Tell Bruce or the girls that Stan sent you.
------------------------------------
Yard Name:Center Auto Parts
Location: Chicopee, MA
Phone Number:413 733-2778
Hours: i dunno
Cars they have (and condition if possible): 1980 Fiat 2000 Spider, doors look good, dash is ok, nice rear lights and some trim items. I didn't check the engine. Steel wheels still on the car. It's on the third level up the hill in the far left. It's light blue with tan interior, seats are shot.

Mt. Tobe Auto Parts

If you live in the Plymouth, CT area this might be worth a drive.

Yard Name:Mt. Tobe Auto Parts
Location:Mt. Tobe rd., Plymouth, CT
Phone Number: disconnected
Hours:?
Cars they have : two old Fiat 600s

They closed years ago but the last time I went there the current property owner let me "shop". The first 600 is near the entrance on the right, it has the original thin green plug wires. The second is up the hill somewhere. They've been sitting for 30 years so don't expect lower body panels but it did have glass and an engine the last time I saw it.

There is no street address but here it is on Bing maps, if you look off to the right you can see the cars. You can't see it on Google maps because their picture was taken when the trees had leaves and the trees grew up around the cars.

that place is pretty cool. I live 1/2 hour away and close friend lived dowm the street, we used to go in there just to look at the cool old cars. trees growing up from inside the car kind of junkyard.

If you are in the area sometime could you check if the 600s are still there? If so, I may just bring a trailer over to pick them up.

great idea. I will have to keep watching. there are no yards in Mich. that I know of and I check south western Ky and got nothing either.

i would also like to see the parts suppliers list. like the other guy suggested. for the Old fiats. looking for parts for the Ghia and I know someone has to make replacement parts for stupid little stuff. but havent found anyone yet. that isnt selling them for the price of a gold bar.

I know of a FIAT 2300S Ghia Coupe abandoned in the woods of east TN. Not sure if it is still there but I remember it being there a few years back. It is complete minus the glass. I'll check next time I am in that area.

Here is a photo I took years ago.

Re: Boneyards of the USA...know of any in CANADA?

Boneyards in Canada?

Being new to the whole classic car scene, I have no idea. I know there is a scrap yard or two off Weston Road in Toronto, just North of the old Stockyards.
Any others?
