Reverse rotation 903cc

Post by 1959Orange600 » Mon Aug 17, 2015 5:27 pm

Several years ago I came into ownership of a 1959 Fiat 600. The car is mostly complete except for everything under the hood. The transaxle and radiator are all it had. Recently I purchased a 1972 Fiat 850 Spider in hopes of using the drive train in the 600. Obviously I didn't do my homework first, and I've come to realize that the transaxle is too wide and the engine runs backwards :bang:

So...I have spent several hours on the internet trying to find information on exactly what it takes to convert the 850 engine to reverse rotation. I see its been done many times but nobody has any solid information. Does anyone have a good list of instructions on what it takes? Are the parts even available anymore? I e-mailed Bayless Fiat in Ohio and Mr. Fiat in Georgia, neither were any help. So please help!! lol :dontknow:

See if you can get a copy of chapter 13 ("How to Convert to Fiat 850 Power") from Greg Schmidt's book. Or if it isn't available, I might be persuaded to scan and send it to you, if you're not in a big hurry. This has 11 pages on the subject. Jeff
