Dealer- or factory-installed racing stripes?

Post by mcsands » Fri Nov 25, 2005 5:55 pm

Howdy, I've seen some Fiats with a red, white and green stripe on them. Was that something that was available from the factory or dealer or am I just looking at photos of modified (racing) cars with custom paint. If they were available, I'd like to get one for my white '76 Spider to add a little color to it. Thank you, Mike Sands, Yucaipa (you-KIPE-uh), Calif.

In the early 1970s, you could get black or white rocker stripes with 'Fiat' in them (not really rocker stripes, as they were above the molding line).
Never offered any multi-colored ones as you describe. The Spider 2000 also had optional 'rocker' stripe kits in various colors.
Anything running over the top of the car would have been an owner-installed 'improvement'.

Hi Mike,
As Dwight referred to... those "FIAT" lower door stripes, I bought a NOS set from Chris Obert in CA a few years back when restoring an 80 Brava. His e mail is fiatplus@aol.com
He may still have some if you are interested in doing something with the sides of the car. I have the dimensions that were used. In my restoration, I simply had a set replicated from the NOS set.. The originals by then were so old, they had lost their adheasive properties.

I just packed up some NOS Fiat rocker tape strips. I have maybe 5-8 sets. Some like Brave wagon strips i might have for a while. I will not see them again until I actually move to new warehouse...
