FIAT on the Dragon! New annual event planning

Post by Brett » Wed May 09, 2012 1:38 pm

I just enjoyed a weekend driving the Tail of the Dragon in my new Abarth 500 and must say that these roads suite the cars well. Most of you have heard of this legendary road. The Mini owners just had an event there last weekend and had almost 800 Mini cars in attendance. I would like to start planning an event of our own that would welcome FIAT 500 and all derivatives. Of course, we would welcome any and all FIAT products new and old but this event would focus on the new generation FIAT 500. Fontana Village (http://www.fontanavillage.com/) is the perfect place for such an event and has seen FIAT in the past during the '98-'99 FIAT FreakOut held there. The resort has recently been completely renovated and improved and is ready to host some great car events.

I live near this area and plan to start planning an event and will touch base with the resort to find out what weekends are open. This is still in very early planning stages but I would like to open it up to everyone to help make this an event that you would want to attend on a yearly basis much like the Mini folks do with the Mini Mania. FIAT is back and we need to begin efforts to plan events that cater to the newer FIAT products (still welcoming the old)

Full disclosure- I am an active member of FLU (fiatclubamerica.com) and would welcome involvement from the club in whatever capacity needed. This would be an event that would welcome all clubs though and the clubs who want to be most involved can take on roles that suite them. I envision this annual event being a place that we can all meet and share in the enjoyment of our cars at a location that is second to none in the country.

So...who all is with me?

I am sure theSpider would do fine. If not, hitch a ride with us. I am sorry I missed you today, I had to do a parts run for Blake's truck. Trying to get the brakes finished before we leave for vacation.
