Checkerboard roof decal (Modification #2)

Post by Shaun Folkerts » Mon May 16, 2011 12:38 pm

The modifications section looked pretty lonely with zero posts, so I thought I'd contribute a couple of the modifications made to Prima #11. The first was the Westfalia hitch installation. The second was the "installation" of front floor mats, which I borrowed from a Spider...they fit and look great! And the third was the checkerboard roof as shown here:

A local shop did it from scratch based upon photos of the accessory kit available in Europe. Matched square-for-square but I had them take out the silly red-500-logoed square in the "factory" kit.

I think this better balances the look of the car as the body is so white AND black (white panels, black stripes, black mirrors, etc.), and the original Prima roof just looked SOO black. An added benefit is that the white might help dissipate some of the heat from the all-heat-absorbing black roof in the summertime.

I completely agree, that looks sharp. Can you post pics of the hitch?

Very nice, Shaun. Are you enjoying #11 as much as I'm enjoying #19?

Probably, Denise. But it sure will be fun for us to compare notes at FFO...just to be sure. ;^)
