Crankshaft Thrust Bearings Position

Post by Marc » Sat Apr 16, 2011 10:08 am

When installing new thrust bearings on your crankshaft, make sure the oil grooves cut into the bearing surface are facing inward towards the crank shaft journal, or the main bearing that supports the crank. This goes for both sides.Aftermarket bearing do not have the small flange step like Fiat/Lancia factory bearings have which will only allow you to put them in the correct way.Every manual published does not make this clear, including the factory shop manual,it does tell you to do this, but can be confusing because of the pictures and the wording which are not 100% clear.
