fIAT 1200

Postby CYCAR1 » Sun May 17, 2015 6:01 pm

Hello everyone,

I am from Southern Illinois, new to the forum. I recently purchased a Fiat 1200 and I am hoping to restore it but it is pretty rough on the under side. I have never owned a Fiat but I noticed this car ten to fifteen years ago in storage and inquired about it but the owner wasn't interested in selling at the time. I was told it was a 1967 but after researching online it looks like it may be 1963 or older. I am new to using forums so I hope the pictures I tried to attach show up. I am trying to determine exactly what I have so I can look into getting a title since the original was not located when I purchased the car. Any information to get me started would be greatly appreciated. :)

Welcome to the group. That will be a fun project. There is one similar on eBay or craigslist that you may want to acquire for parts. Keep us updated.

Hello,

Are you still restoring this car? I just picked one up that is far beyond restoring. However, it has many, many usable parts. I will be parting it out. If you need some parts, perhaps you could make out a list of what you may need and I can bag and tag them. What are your thoughts?

Nice find. It's a Fiat 1200 Cabriolet. Called a Vetture Speciali, legend has it that 400 examples of this model were produced by Italian design house Pininfarina from 1959-63. I've seen prices of $20k-$30k for fully restored models. Have you progressed with your restoration? Have you any new photos to post? I'd like to see them, and maybe others would, too.
