79 Lancia Beta Coupe Full Restoration In Process

Postby pharris » Tue Oct 23, 2012 7:08 pm

Hello,

I purchased a 79 Lancia Beta Coupe two years ago and decided after one month of ownership that this car deserved a complete restoration. As of this writing, she has been returned from the body shop with a new coat of factory silver paint. During that 9 month process I have rebuilt the engine, front suspension and drivetrain back to factory specs to include new bushings, strut inserts and fresh paint and replated fasteners and various components.

Currently the body shell is waiting for the new interior and total re build of the rear suspension. Since 98% of this car was intact, there are still a few interior trim parts and window trim pieces that I am looking for. I have included some pics for your review and comments.

You can see some of the body work from the body shop at http://designwelke.com. Its the only Lancia on the site. Should be easy to find.

yeah, buddy. Gotta love those complete restores! I'm in the middle of one myself. Loads of work, and painstaking attention to details. Best of luck as you proceed. She'll be a real looker when yer done.

It's great to see someone restoring a Beta Coupé--now rarer than Zagatos. I've had three Coupés, including a '79, and seeing one being saved really makes my day. Good luck with it!

Reupholstered seats and door panels have come back from the trim shop. Headliner material will soon be installed in to the ceiling as the sunroof is now finished with new guides, push rods and matching liner.

Sam,

Located in Grafton Wisconsin north of Milwaukee. My goal is to complete her by early summer and show her at some of the local vintage car shows in the Wisconsin and Illinois areas. In northern Wisconsin there is a vintage race at Road America in Elkart Lake. I would most likely trailer her up there behind my Vixen 21TD motor home.

be sure to look up the various club members located in Wisconsin and Illinois. Our Chicago chapter is one of the largest, and is very active year round.

Install of the reconditioned rear bumper. Starting inside the trunk and working my way through the interior over the winter months.

Headliner install will be done before the sunroof is installed. Completed sunroof assembly has been set aside waiting for the headliner and front, center and rear pillar trim to be refurbished and installed.

At this rate this will no doubt be one of the best if not best Betas in the USA.

Can't wait to see her! The Chicago Flu would love to have you at one of our meetups--hope you can make it. Might take a look at the Dec 2nd meetup in Colgate--shouldn't be too far from you.

You mentioned a meeting in Colgate. Is that Colgate WI? What are the details and are they listed at this site?
